I was just reading something and it floors me. I know nyc real estate is a parallel universe to the rest of the world. But did you know it costs $60,000 to put a down payment on an apartment here? HOLY CRAP.
I live in Tucson, Arizona, "land of the useless 'c'" as a friend of mine likes to call it, in order to learn how to write me some novels (and short stories). I have a fluffy white dog named Crumb. Since we have moved to the desert, she really misses grass (the green kind we walk on, not the kind some people smoke. I do not give my dog drugs. Except for that time she got drunk on jello shots--but that was a mistake, I swear!)

And that's if the apartment costs $300,000. A not-too-nice-ish one bedroom is $400,000, and almost all coops require 20% down. Plus $6k or so for closing costs. That's $86,000.
And that, my friends, is the biggest reason we're living in the 'Mont.
